Housekeeping and Client Care Assistant
Purpose of the role:
The Housekeeping and Client Care Assistant will ensure the care, safety and welfare of Irish Guide Dog for the Blind clients while in residence at our Training Centre. The post holder will receive relevant training to ensure they can carry out all required duties effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
– Client support – The primary responsibility is to ensure all requirements of clients on site are met in line with department specific procedures.
– House maintenance –This will include client related tasks such as cleaning, laundry, food preparation, kitchen duties and any other tasks assigned by the Assistant Housekeeping Supervisor.
– Be aware of and adhere to site-specific safety and security requirements in relation to the running of the Training Centre.
– At night, the Housekeeping Assistant will have extra department specific safeguards and responsibilities to meet regarding the security of the building, fire safety procedures, safety of clients on site and visitors coming on site.
– Ensure all clients are familiar and comfortable moving around their environment independently.
– Support Shared Service Team as needed. For example, reception desk, light administration tasks.
– In addition to these key accountabilities, you may also have ownership for one or more key processes that will be communicated to you via your manager and/or the Performance Management framework.

Person Specification
Essential:
– You must display a genuine interest in people and support clients’ independence by providing attention when needed, whilst ensuring clients retain their independence and dignity at all time
– Previous experience in a similar client focused environment with excellent communication skills
– A “hands-on” and “can do” attitude with a proven track record of achieving results by working collaboratively
– Time management and experience multi-tasking to meet agreed schedules
– Understand the value of absolute discretion
– Comfortable with dogs in the workplace/office
Desirable
First aid, customer care, safety training in areas of hygiene, health and safety
Special Conditions
– Subject to full Garda (Police) vetting
– Full clean driving license essential
– Fluent English
– Must be eligible to work in Ireland and EU
– Must be physically able to complete the work required
