Electrical Design Engineer

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Designing in conjunction with fire strategy reports, local building regulations & planning authority requirements.
Attendance design team meetings
Carrying out site surveys of existing installations where applicable.
Producing HV/LV power load calculations using industry standard software
Sizing and selection of cable sizes, distribution boards, transformers, and terminal devices
Producing lighting design calculations using industry standard software
Selection of appropriate light fittings to meet appropriate lux levels.
Sizing / designing of power supplies to all mechanical building services systems.
Sizing / designing containment and distribution systems for all data telecommunication systems.
Sizing and selection of appropriate containment and distribution systems for lighting and power cabling including bas-bars / bus-ducts.
Selection and designing of appropriate fire & life systems to comply with local authority and building regulations.
Selection and designing of CCTV & Intruder / security systems to comply with local authority and project requirements.
Designing / selection of Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging systems – preferred but not essential
Production of stage reports & presentations
Preparing Designers Risk Assessment and Mitigation Reports
Detailing electrical services layouts & schematics for build.
Meeting project delivery deadlines
Production of detailed design and survey reports.
Carry out all work in a professional manner.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
5 or more years’ experience in the Electrical Engineering building services for construction
Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent
Working knowledge of Amtech, DIALux /Relux software for calculations
Good knowledge of CIBSE, IEC, BS, IS and EN Irish and UK standards.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to use own initiative.
TRAVEL
Some travel may be required. Expectation is that this would not exceed 20% of total working time on average.
